Winner Was Declared While Waiting For Collation – APC Aspirants Condemns Primary
A governorship aspirant of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Adamawa State, Abdulrahman Haske, has expressed dissatisfaction with the conduct of the party’s governorship primary, alleging irregularities in the collation and announcement of results.
Haske, in a statement issued after the exercise, questioned the transparency of the process, claiming that results were announced before proper collation was concluded in some local government areas.
According to the APC aspirant, members of his team were still awaiting the collation of votes when the winner of the primary was unexpectedly declared.
“It was surprising that while we were waiting for the collation of the votes to happen, what happened to our greatest surprise was the declaration of the winner. We have our data, and we will consult and state our position over the weekend,” Haske stated.
The governorship hopeful stressed that credibility, fairness, and openness remain essential in strengthening internal democracy within political parties. He noted that the integrity of any electoral process should be valued as much as the outcome itself.
“The integrity of the process is as important as the outcome. Transparent and inclusive procedures remain essential to sustaining trust and confidence within the party,” he added.
Despite his concerns, Haske appealed to his supporters across Adamawa State to remain calm and law-abiding while consultations continue with party leaders and stakeholders regarding the next line of action.
“As responsible democrats, we are engaging widely to review the exercise and explore all legitimate avenues available to us,” he said.
He also appreciated his supporters for their loyalty and commitment throughout the primary process and reaffirmed his continued allegiance to the APC.
The development comes amid growing political activities across the country ahead of the 2027 general elections, with several parties conducting primaries and internal consultations to position themselves strategically.
