The Ondo State Government says it has not received any complaint from residents in the past 48 hours regarding the offensive odour recently reported in parts of the state.
The government described the development as a welcome relief for residents, while stressing that investigations into the source of the odour are still ongoing.
In a statement issued on Friday, August 28, 2026, the Commissioner for Environment, Hon. Tob Loko, Ph.D., said government experts are carefully tracing, examining and scientifically assessing every available lead to determine the cause of the environmental challenge.
The Commissioner said the administration of Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa remains committed to protecting the health and well-being of residents of Akure and the wider Ondo State.
According to him, the investigative team comprises environmental professionals and technical experts tasked with finding a lasting solution to the situation.
The government assured residents that it would take decisive steps once the ongoing investigations are concluded, stressing that the offensive odour must disappear and should not return.
