Wike: No President Has Delivered More FCT Road Projects Than Tinubu
ABUJA – The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for what he described as unprecedented investment in road infrastructure across the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), insisting that no previous Nigerian President has matched the current administration’s achievements in the nation’s capital.
Wike made the remarks on Friday during the commissioning of access roads leading to the Renewed Hope Cities and Estates in the Karsana West District of Abuja as part of activities marking President Tinubu’s third anniversary in office.
The minister aligned himself with comments earlier made by the President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, who had stated that President Tinubu had delivered more road infrastructure projects in the FCT and its satellite towns than any other President in Nigeria’s history.
According to Wike, the Senate President’s remarks accurately reflected the level of infrastructural transformation currently taking place across the FCT.
“Let me correct one impression. This morning, as we were preparing to leave, I watched a television programme where the presenter questioned the Senate President’s statement that no President in this country has constructed infrastructure the way President Tinubu has done.
“We were in Abuja yesterday discussing infrastructure in the FCT, and what the Senate President said was correct; that no President in Nigeria’s history has constructed as many roads in the FCT, not only within the city centre but also across the satellite towns.
“Even if he had said the whole of Nigeria, he would still be right. His comments were centred on the FCT, where he had carried out his official assignment,” Wike stated.
The FCT Minister further maintained that many satellite communities were experiencing meaningful government presence for the first time through the ongoing infrastructure projects.
He cited the development of the Karsana District as an example of the administration’s commitment to expanding development beyond Abuja’s city centre.
“Let anyone come out and say whether the satellite towns have ever experienced governance like they are witnessing today. Nobody knew about this Karsana District before, but today, look at where we are. It is all about the provision of infrastructure. Stand firm in what you said; we will defend it with our actions,” Wike added.
The commissioning formed part of the Federal Government’s activities commemorating President Tinubu’s third year in office, with the administration highlighting ongoing infrastructure projects as evidence of its Renewed Hope Agenda.
