The Ooni of Ife, His Imperial Majesty Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, has conferred a chieftaincy title on Nollywood actor, Olanrewaju Omiyinka, popularly known as Baba Ijesha, alongside presenting him with a brand-new car and other luxury gifts.

The actor disclosed the development in a post shared on his official Facebook page on Friday, accompanied by photographs showing him and his wife, Abiodun Folashade Tokunbo Omiyinka, paying homage to the revered monarch at the Ile-Ife Palace.

According to Baba Ijesha, he and his wife received a warm royal welcome during the visit, where the Ooni bestowed on him the traditional title “Baba Awada Konge Oduwa,” a title associated with comedy and the Oduduwa heritage.

Expressing appreciation to the monarch, the actor described the honour as a memorable moment in his life.

My deepest gratitude to His Imperial Majesty, the Ooni of Ife. Baba, thank you for the royal welcome, fatherly love, and the confidence you gave my wife, Afolashade Omiyinka, and I.

“For the luxurious gifts you blessed us with, and the brand-new car, I am truly humbled. As a son of the soil, I’m also honoured by the chieftaincy title, Baba Awada Konge Oduwa, Ile-Ife, Ile Oodua,” he wrote.

The palace visit comes several months after Baba Ijesha regained his freedom from prison in November 2025.

The Nollywood actor was convicted by a Lagos High Court in 2022 on charges bordering on indecent treatment of a child and sexual assault. Although he was initially sentenced to 16 years imprisonment, the terms of the sentence ran concurrently, resulting in a prison term of approximately five years before his release.
