A faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), aligned with the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has fixed the cost of its presidential Expression of Interest and Nomination forms at ₦51 million for the 2027 general elections.

The decision was reportedly part of key resolutions reached during a National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting held at the party’s national headquarters in Abuja.

According to party sources, the Expression of Interest form is priced at ₦1 million, while the Nomination form costs ₦50 million, bringing the total to ₦51 million.

A senior party official disclosed that the NEC has also approved the timetable for the party’s primary elections, with activities already underway and expected to conclude on May 29, 2026.

Despite ongoing political realignments, the faction insists it will present a presidential candidate for the 2027 elections.

The party’s National Publicity Secretary, Jungudo Haruna Mohammed, reaffirmed the commitment, stating that preparations are in motion to ensure the party fields a credible candidate.

The PDP has remained embroiled in a prolonged leadership crisis, resulting in the emergence of parallel factions within the party.

While the Wike-backed faction is led by Abdulrahman Mohammed, another faction is under the leadership of Kabiru Tanimu Turaki and enjoys the support of several PDP governors.

Interestingly, Wike, who is considered a central figure in the faction, has publicly declared support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC), further complicating the PDP’s internal dynamics.

The latest development underscores the deepening divisions within the PDP as political parties begin early positioning ahead of the 2027 general elections.
