The development agenda of Ondo State Governor, Dr. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, has continued to gain traction in the oil-producing areas of the state as the Ondo State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (OSOPADEC), under the leadership of its Executive Chairman, Prince Olabiyi Olaleye Poroye, marks one year in office with a series of completed and ongoing development projects.

Since assuming office, the Poroye-led board has aligned its programmes with Governor Aiyedatiwa’s broader development vision, focusing on infrastructure renewal, healthcare improvement, and enhanced connectivity across riverine communities in Ondo State.

The administration’s activities, according to stakeholders, reflect a sustained effort to ensure that dividends of governance reach oil-producing communities that form a critical part of the state’s economy.

Among the flagship projects completed by OSOPADEC and awaiting commissioning by Governor Aiyedatiwa is the General Hospital, Agadagba-Obon in Ese-Odo Local Government Area. The facility is expected to significantly improve access to healthcare services for residents of riverine communities.

Also completed is the 1-kilometre Igbotu Township Road, designed to enhance intra-community connectivity and support economic activities in Ese-Odo Local Government Area.

In Ilaje Local Government Area, the Commission has delivered a 1,000-metre concrete walkway with jetty at Obe-Nla, aimed at improving mobility and water transportation in riverine settlements.

Other completed waterfront infrastructure includes concrete landing walkways at Obe-Rewoye, Obe-Ogbaro, Obe-Magbe, and Obe Lomore, all designed to ease waterway movement and boost local trade.

In further expansion of its development drive, OSOPADEC has also flagged off new projects across the mandate areas.

These include the 1-kilometre Sabomi Township Road in Ese-Odo Local Government Area, expected to open up rural communities and improve access to markets and services.

The Commission has also commenced the construction of a Naval Security Post with jetties at Atijere in Ilaje Local Government Area, with similar installations planned for Ebighan, Odun-Oyinbo, and Apata communities. The initiative is aimed at strengthening maritime security and protecting coastal assets.

Speaking during a project tour, the Permanent Secretary of OSOPADEC, F.A. Omomowo, commended the administration of Governor Aiyedatiwa for what he described as visible developmental progress across the mandate areas of the Commission.

He noted that the projects reflect the government’s commitment to bridging infrastructure gaps and improving living conditions in oil-producing communities.

As the Commission enters its second year under Prince Poroye, stakeholders say the combination of completed and ongoing projects demonstrates a renewed focus on grassroots development and service delivery.

The initiatives are widely viewed as part of Governor Aiyedatiwa’s broader agenda for a more inclusive and economically vibrant Ondo State, particularly in underserved riverine communities.

With several projects already delivered and more underway, OSOPADEC’s first-year performance is being presented by officials as a model of coordinated governance and infrastructural renewal in the state.
