Veteran Nollywood actor Emeka Ike has formally thrown his hat into Nigeria’s political ring, announcing his bid for a seat in the House of Representatives under the platform of the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC).
The movie star will contest for the Abuja Municipal/Bwari Federal Constituency seat, signaling a major shift from the entertainment industry to active politics.
Ike unveiled his political ambition during a recent announcement, and was made available to the media where he stressed the need for what he described as a “proper systematic structure” to drive meaningful national development and governance reforms.
“I am running for the federal house of representatives under the Bwari federal constituency in Abuja,” Ike declared.
The actor’s entry into the race further underscores the growing wave of Nigerian entertainers seeking political offices, amid increasing calls for fresh voices and alternative leadership in the country’s democratic space.
