The political atmosphere in Ese-Odo local government area has erupted with massive political stir following the dramatic declaration of a female aspirant, Mrs. Tarike-ebi Powei to contest the Ese-Odo Constituency seat in the Ondo State House of Assembly, 2027, under the platform of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC).

Tarike-ebi Powei, an influential businesswoman, grassroots mobilizer and respected philanthropist from Urou-Sou-Ama Zion, Biagbini in Arogbo Ward lll of Ese-Odo LGA, threw her hat into the ring with a thunderous message of liberation, declaring that the era of “poor representation, male chauvinism, political abandonment and unequal distribution of democratic dividends” must come to an end.

In a strongly termed declaration that is already sending shockwaves across political camps in Ese-Odo, the frontline aspirant vowed to reclaim the voice of the people and restore dignity, inclusion and purposeful leadership to the constituency.

Ese-Odo cannot continue to suffer under ineffective representation while our people remain neglected. The time has come for a new direction, a people-driven leadership and a government that truly works for all,” she declared.

Speaking to Arogbo-ibevoice reporters, in Akure, at the party secretariat, the fearless NDC aspirant stated unequivocally that her ambition is not born out of personal gain or political survival but from a deep burden to rescue the constituency from years of stagnation, underdevelopment and leadership failure.

“I am not in this race to enrich myself. I am stepping forward because our people deserve fairness, opportunities, empowerment, and a representative who understands their pain and aspirations,” she said.

She further emphasized that the struggle ahead is beyond politics, describing it as “a movement for justice, equity and the total rebirth of Ese-Odo.”

Political observers say her entrance into the race may alter the political equation in the riverine constituency, especially given her growing grassroots acceptance among women, youths, and community stakeholders.

Known widely for her humanitarian interventions and uncommon generosity, Tarike-ebi has over the years earned the admiration of many residents who see her as a compassionate leader with the courage to confront entrenched political interests.

Sources within the NDC revealed that her decision followed extensive consultations with party leaders, political stakeholders, youth bodies, women groups and traditional rulers who prevailed on her to answer the growing call for credible and people-oriented leadership ahead of 2027.

After wide consultations, it became clear that this is a responsibility I can not run away from. Our people are demanding a new era of accountability, inclusion, and development. Ese-Odo deserves better, and together, we shall reclaim our future,” she added.

Her declaration has since ignited massive reactions across the constituency, with supporters describing her candidacy as “the beginning of a political revolution” capable of dismantling the old order and ushering in a new era of responsive governance.

As permutations and alignments ahead of the 2027 elections intensify, many political analysts believe Tarike-ebi Powei’s emergence under the NDC banner signals a fierce battle for the soul of Ese-Odo Constituency.

For many residents, however, one message appears loud and clear: the demand for change is growing stronger, and Tarike-ebi Powei has positioned herself at the centre of that wave
