The Former Minister of Transportation and ex-Governor of Rivers State, Rotimi Amaechi, on Monday arrived in his hometown of Ubima, Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State, ahead of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) Presidential Primaries.

Amaechi was received by a large crowd of residents, supporters, and political loyalists who lined major roads within the community to welcome the former governor as he prepares to participate in the party’s presidential primary process.

The atmosphere in Ubima was marked by chants, cheers, and visible excitement, with supporters describing his return as significant to both the community and the broader political landscape in Rivers State.

The former Rivers governor is expected to cast his vote during the ADC presidential primaries, an exercise considered critical to the party’s preparations ahead of future national political engagements.

Some residents who spoke during the reception expressed confidence in Amaechi’s political relevance and leadership experience.

Amaechi remains a strong political figure, and the people are happy to receive him back home,” a supporter at the venue said.

Amaechi, a former Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum, continues to command influence within Nigeria’s political space, particularly in Rivers State where he maintains a strong support base.

The ADC presidential primaries are expected to attract attention from political stakeholders across the country as parties begin early positioning ahead of the next electoral cycle.
