Former Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, has accused the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) 2023 presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar; former Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Tambuwal; and ex–PDP National Chairman, Iyorchia Ayu, of being responsible for the party’s decline.

Fayose made the allegation while speaking on Politics Today, a programme aired on Channels Television on Friday.

According to him, the internal crisis that has weakened the PDP can be traced to the actions and decisions of the trio.

“Atiku destroyed the PDP, Tambuwal destroyed the PDP, and Ayu destroyed it. Politics is not fair; life itself is not balanced,” Fayose said.

Commenting on the political rift in Rivers State between Governor Siminalayi Fubara and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, Fayose said he never anticipated such a fallout between the two leaders.

“I never knew this thing would ever happen between Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, and the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike,” he stated.

Recalling events surrounding Fubara’s inauguration, Fayose said he personally cautioned the governor against betraying Wike.

“I was sitting on the high table the day Governor Fubara was sworn in, and I told Wike that I wanted to say one or two things to Fubara not to betray you,” he added.

The former governor also reiterated his position on the 2023 presidential election, stating that he openly supported President Bola Tinubu despite being a PDP member.

“Everybody stands where they will be able to say the truth to Nigerians. I am not contesting elections, and I have not asked anybody for favours,” Fayose said.

“Openly, I supported Asiwaju Tinubu in 2023, and I didn’t hide it. Till now, I am still there. I didn’t jump. I am not a member of the APC, and I will never be,” he added.
