Traditional chiefs endorse Ondo senator, Ipinsagba for second term
Traditional rulers in Ikare-Akoko, Ondo State, have thrown their support behind the Senator representing Ondo North Senatorial District, Olajide Ipinsagba, endorsing him for a second term in the National Assembly.
The chiefs, operating under the Ikare Chiefs-in-Council, said the lawmaker merits another term based on his notable contributions to the social and economic development of communities across Ondo North.
The endorsement was announced during an end-of-year meeting of the chiefs, which was hosted by the senator’s team at his residence in the Ekan-Ile area of Ikare-Akoko. Community leaders and traditional rulers at the gathering commended Ipinsagba for implementing people-focused programmes and development projects that have positively impacted the district.
Speaking on behalf of the council, the Elemeje of Okela Ikare-Akoko, Chief Mustapha Abubakar, explained that the decision to support the senator’s re-election bid was driven by his strong performance and visible achievements since assuming office.
He noted that Ipinsagba has consistently demonstrated commitment to the growth of Ondo North, highlighting projects such as the electrification of the Ekan-Ile community and the construction of a civic centre in Oloko, Ikare-Akoko.
Also speaking, the Elegure of Odo Ikare-Akoko, Chief Lawrence Adubiaro, praised the senator’s wide-ranging developmental efforts, referencing the construction of classrooms at AUD IV Ishakunmi Ikare-Akoko, the installation of streetlights across Ikare-Akoko, and the building of a hall at Agolo Grammar School.
The chiefs further disclosed that the foundation-laying ceremony for the proposed University of Information and Communication Technology, facilitated by Senator Ipinsagba, is scheduled to take place in the coming year.
In his response, Senator Ipinsagba expressed appreciation for the endorsement and outlined planned projects for the district, including the construction of the Ikare-Akoko market and the Ekan-Ile access road. He also announced plans to establish a creative centre in Ikare-Akoko, urging the traditional rulers to help identify a suitable site for the project.
