Tinubu’s Ex-minister Nnnaji Reportedly Defects From APC To PDP
A former Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, Uche Nnaji, has reportedly dumped the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Although the former minister has not officially announced his resignation from the APC or confirmed his defection, he has recently been seen holding political meetings with PDP members and supporters in Enugu State.
The National Secretary of a PDP faction aligned with the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, Samuel Anyanwu, confirmed that Nnaji has joined the party.
However, he noted that he could not verify whether Nnaji has purchased nomination forms to contest the PDP governorship primary in Enugu State.
Reports indicate that Nnaji recently launched a support group, the Uche Ndi Enugu Grassroots Movement, as part of preparations for a possible 2027 governorship bid.
He has also been quoted as pledging to serve only one term of four years if elected governor, stating that he would not require more time to implement his plans for the state.
Nnaji’s reported defection comes amid an ongoing investigation by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) over allegations of certificate forgery involving his degree from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, and his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) certificate.
An investigative panel reportedly set up by the Minister of Education, Tunji Alausa, is said to have found evidence suggesting that the certificates may have been forged.
Nnaji had earlier resigned from his ministerial position in October 2025, shortly after the allegations surfaced.
As of now, neither Nnaji nor his spokesperson has issued an official statement confirming his defection, leaving his political status formally unclarified despite growing indications of a shift to the PDP.
