Diri Hosts Kefas, Tompolo in Yenagoa, Rallies Ijaw Leaders for Unity
Governor of Bayelsa State, Senator Douye Diri, on Monday received a high-profile delegation at the Government House in Yenagoa, led by the Governor of Taraba State, Agbu Kefas, alongside prominent Ijaw leader, High Chief Government Oweizide Ekpemupolo, widely known as Tompolo, and other notable stakeholders.
Members of the visiting team included Hon. Julius Pondi, Engr. Kestin Pondi, Great Joshua MacIver, Pastor Reuben Wilson, and Mr. Paul Eris, also known as Ogunbos, among others.
The Bayelsa governor was joined by his deputy, Dr. Peter Akpe, the Acting Chief of Staff, Irorodamie Komonibo, as well as key political figures and government officials. Also present were the State APC Chairman, Hon. Warman Weri Ogoriba; the lawmaker representing Southern Ijaw Constituency 1, Hon. Felix Bonny Ayah; the Commissioner for Education, Hon. Emelah Gentle; and the Commissioner for Transport, Hon. Brodrick Preye.
Addressing the gathering, Governor Diri stressed the need for sustained unity and cooperation among Ijaw people, urging leaders to rise above political affiliations in the collective interest of their shared heritage.
He described the visit as a strong symbol of unity and reaffirmation of longstanding ties among Ijaw leaders and stakeholders.
According to him, maintaining regular engagement and fostering deeper collaboration remain essential for preserving the cultural identity and advancing the interests of the Ijaw nation.
The meeting is widely viewed as a strategic engagement aimed at strengthening relationships across political and regional lines while reinforcing solidarity among key figures within the Ijaw community.
