Renewed Hope in Action: PAP Administrator Otuaro Sends Fresh Batch of Scholars to UK
The Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP) has deployed an additional batch of 15 scholarship beneficiaries to the United Kingdom for postgraduate studies as part of its foreign scholarship initiative aimed at empowering youths from the Niger Delta region.
The beneficiaries, who departed under the first leg of the May 2026 foreign deployment, will pursue master’s degree programmes in disciplines including biomedical science, oil and gas engineering, data science, cyber security, software engineering, automotive engineering, communication, culture and media, among others.
Speaking during a pre-departure briefing held at the PAP headquarters in Abuja on Thursday, the Administrator of the programme, Dennis Brutu Otuaro, said many of the beneficiaries earned the scholarship opportunity after graduating with first-class honours in their undergraduate studies.
The PAP also presented laptops to each of the scholars to support their academic pursuits abroad.
In a statement sent to our correspondent at Arogbo-Ibe Voice Reporters by the Special Assistant on Media to the PAP Administrator, Mr. Igoniko Oduma, Dr. Otuaro attributed the programme’s achievements and the increasing number of local and foreign scholarship deployments to the support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the supervision of the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu.
According to the statement, the PAP Administrator said the scholarship initiative aligns with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Tinubu, which he described as focused on peace, education and sustainable development in the Niger Delta.
Dr. Otuaro said he remained unapologetic about the large-scale scholarship deployments, stressing that the programme was investing in the future of the region by producing educated and responsible youths who would contribute meaningfully to peace and development.
He urged the beneficiaries to be good ambassadors of Nigeria and the Niger Delta while studying in the United Kingdom and to return home after their studies to contribute to nation-building.
“All the scholarship deployments and the monumental successes we have achieved are as a result of the strong support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the efficient supervision by the Office of the National Security Adviser,” he stated.
He added, “Be good ambassadors of Nigeria while in the United Kingdom and don’t disappoint Nigeria and the Niger Delta. Do your best and return home after your studies to join hands in advancing peace and development in our communities.”
Earlier, the Head of Education at PAP, Dr. Charles Ariye, delivered a presentation where he shared academic and behavioural guidelines with the departing scholars to help them succeed during their studies abroad.
Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Ikiere Victor, who will study mechanical engineering at Coventry University, expressed gratitude to the Federal Government, President Tinubu and the PAP leadership for the opportunity, promising that the scholars would represent Nigeria positively in the UK.
