Political Equation Shifts in Ese-Odo Constituency as NDC’s Tarike-ebi Powei Dokubo Picks Up Forms, Enters Assembly Race
The emerging political realignment ahead of the 2027 general elections gained further traction in Ondo State on Sunday as Hon. Mrs. Tarike-Ebi Powei Dokubo advanced her legislative bid by obtaining her Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms, contesting the Ese-Odo Constituency seat in the Ondo State House of Assembly under the platform of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC).
The development, which unfolded at the party’s secretariat in Akure, has been described by political stakeholders as part of a broader recalibration of Nigeria’s democratic space, particularly with the entrance of alternative political movements positioning themselves against the traditional power blocs ahead of the next electoral cycle.
Hon. Tarike-ebi Powei Dokubo, currently the only female aspirant in the contest for the constituency seat, is contesting under the banner of the NDC, a fast-rising political platform reportedly strategizing to disrupt the prevailing political architecture and mount a formidable challenge for major elective offices, including the Presidency, in the 2027 general elections.
Addressing supporters shortly after obtaining the forms, the aspirant declared that her political ambition was rooted in “the urgent necessity to reconnect governance with the people and restore credibility to representative leadership.”
“The people of Ese-Odo deserve a new governance template founded on accountability, inclusion, and measurable development. Our democracy must begin to reflect the genuine aspirations of ordinary citizens rather than elite political interests,” she said.
Observers within the state’s political ecosystem view her candidacy as part of a growing ideological shift toward participatory governance and issue-based representation, especially at a time when voter sentiment across several constituencies appears increasingly disenchanted with conventional political establishments.
The NDC, despite being a relatively new entrant into the nation’s political terrain, has continued to generate conversations within policy and electoral circles following its aggressive grassroots mobilization strategy and its declared ambition to occupy strategic political offices, including the Presidential Villa, in 2027.
Analysts believe the party’s expansion drive and recruitment of emerging political figures may significantly alter electoral permutations in several states if the momentum is sustained ahead of the polls.
Hon. Dokubo, who enjoys increasing support among women, youths, and grassroots stakeholders in Ese-Odo Constituency, is widely regarded by her supporters as a proponent of developmental politics, institutional accountability, and inclusive representation.
Her entrance into the race is already reshaping political conversations within the constituency, with many describing it as the beginning of a potentially transformative contest capable of redefining the area’s legislative trajectory.
