A prominent chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State, Chief Michael Johnny, has called on party members across the eight local government areas of Delta South Senatorial District to support Senator Joel-Onowakpo Thomas (JOT) in the party’s senatorial primary election.

Chief Johnny described the primary as a crucial exercise that would shape the political direction, stability, and unity of Delta South ahead of the next general election.

According to him, the district requires a leader capable of fostering unity beyond ethnic and political differences, stressing that inclusive leadership remains essential for sustainable political progress in the region.

He noted that Senator Joel-Onowakpo Thomas has continued to demonstrate leadership that accommodates people from different ethnic backgrounds, political interests, and local government areas within Delta South.

The APC leader further stated that many Ijaw stakeholders have resolved to support the senator’s re-election bid in the interest of fairness, justice, and political balance within the senatorial district.

Chief Johnny also commended Itsekiri leaders and stakeholders who, according to him, have continued to promote peace, equity, and harmonious coexistence among the various ethnic nationalities in Delta South.

He warned against divisive politics capable of creating tension or weakening the collective interests of the region, urging APC members to remain united throughout the primary process.

Speaking on the significance of the election, Chief Johnny maintained that the future of Delta South should take precedence over personal or sectional interests, adding that Senator JOT represents continuity, experience, and inclusive representation for the district.
