Strong criticism has trailed Hon. Mrs. Tarike-Ebi Powei Dokubo, wife of Mujahid Dokubo-Asari, and House of Assembly aspirant for Ese-Odo Constituency under the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), following the disruption of a scheduled media interview with Arogbo-Ibe Voice Reporters during her visit to His Highness Bekewei Oyinbo in Erubiri, Arogbo Kingdom.

Arogbo-Ibe Voice Reporters correspondents report that the incident occurred at about 7:51pm. shortly after the royal engagement.

Despite earlier confirmation that she would address journalists, her security aide reportedly stepped in to halt the interview following intervention from members of her entourage.

The development has triggered strong reactions from residents, journalists, and political observers, who described it as a troubling display of intolerance toward the press.

While some voices suggested she could have addressed the media, noting that it was her first political visit to Arogbo, critics maintained that the decision to shut down the interview was unnecessary and avoidable.

Observers argued that political aspirants under the NDC are expected to demonstrate openness, especially during early engagements with constituents, rather than restricting access to the press.

They warned that such incidents raise concerns about transparency, communication style, and public accountability.

Community voices insisted that Ese-Odo deserves leaders who engage freely with the media and the public, not those perceived to avoid scrutiny during political outreach.

Note:
Arogbo-Ibe Voice Reporters wishes to clarify that the scheduled interview with Hon. Mrs. Tarike-Ebi Powei Dokubo was not granted, as access was reportedly restricted at the venue.
