No One or Group Should Drag My Name Into an Election I Did Not Participate In or Support” – Nengi James Issues Strong Warning
A presidential aspirant of the Ijaw National Congress (INC), Nengi James, has publicly distanced himself from the ongoing controversy surrounding the proposed INC election and inauguration process.
In a statement posted on his Facebook handle, Nengi James made it clear that he neither participated in nor supports the disputed election process currently generating reactions across the Ijaw nation.
The INC presidential aspirant warned individuals and groups against associating his name with the exercise, stressing that his position remains firmly aligned with that of the Concerned Ijaw Traditional Rulers and Elders (CITRE) and the Governor of Bayelsa State, Douye Diri.
“Please, no one or group should drag my name into an election I did not participate in and do not support to hold,” he stated.
He further emphasized the need for peace, unity, and broader consultations in resolving the leadership issues affecting the INC, noting that the overall interest of the Ijaw nation must remain paramount.
The development comes amid rising tensions over the planned inauguration of a new INC executive, following calls by several stakeholders for the process to be suspended pending reconciliation and wider consultations.
