NDDC Boss Briefs Tinubu on Major Niger Delta Projects, Pushes Key Road Infrastructure

The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Dr. Samuel Ogbuku, has updated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on the progress of major development projects across the Niger Delta region.

The meeting took place on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, where the NDDC boss outlined ongoing efforts to complete several strategic infrastructure projects under the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

Dr. Ogbuku stated that the commission has made notable progress in project delivery, crediting sustained support from the Presidency and policy direction focused on accelerating development in the region.

He highlighted completed and ongoing projects, including student hostel facilities at Niger Delta University, road construction in Ikot Ekpene, and rural electrification in Oron, Akwa Ibom State. He also expressed readiness for presidential commissioning of some completed projects.

According to him, other major projects currently underway include the Kaa-Ataba Road and Bridge, the Niger Delta Regional Specialist Hospital in Rivers State, and additional road works in Ikot Ekpene.

He further drew attention to the 70.75km Omadino-OkerenkokoEscravos Road and bridge project in Warri North Local Government Area, being executed in partnership with the Delta State Government and Chevron Nigeria Limited.

Dr. Ogbuku reaffirmed the commission’s commitment to delivering impactful infrastructure aimed at improving livelihoods and boosting economic activities across the Niger Delta region.
