IYC Inaugurates 9-Member Electoral Committee Ahead of National Elections
The Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) has officially inaugurated a nine-member National Electoral Committee (ELECO) to oversee preparations for its forthcoming national elections.
The inauguration was held on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, at the Ijaw House in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, following the screening and approval of nominees by the IYC Mobile Parliament.
Speaking at the event, IYC President Jonathan Lokpobiri said the committee was constituted to ensure a credible, transparent, and orderly electoral process that will produce the next leadership of the council.
The newly inaugurated committee is expected to manage all electoral processes leading to the emergence of new national executives.
Members of the National Electoral Committee include Dr. Charles Ikimi (Chairman), Dr. Gesikeme Mitin, Rt. Hon. Digimie Pongoyo, Napoleon Kenerekedi, Tam Icon James, Engr. Bristol Emmanuel Alagbaria, Micah Amiefori Micah, Eperetei Fieyebo, and Minasigha Bluejack.
The inauguration formally signals the commencement of activities ahead of the IYC national elections, with stakeholders expressing optimism for a peaceful and credible exercise.
