The presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), Omoyele Sowore, has alleged that the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation, the Federal Ministry of Finance, and the Office of the Auditor General of the Federation are among the key government institutions driving corruption in Nigeria.
Sowore made the remarks during an interview in which he outlined his vision for governance and public sector reforms ahead of the 2027 general elections.
According to him, his administration, if elected, would rely heavily on Artificial Intelligence (AI) and other emerging technologies to improve transparency, eliminate waste and strengthen accountability across government institutions.
He argued that AI systems would be capable of detecting irregular financial transactions, including duplicate or multiple payments to the same contractor, thereby reducing opportunities for corruption and financial mismanagement.
Sowore further stated that his proposed administration would focus on technological innovation driven by the Fourth Industrial Revolution, with emphasis on artificial intelligence, blockchain technology, advanced computing and decentralised financial systems.
He also predicted that the increasing adoption of digital currencies around the world could eventually reduce the traditional role of central banks, making many existing financial systems obsolete.
The former presidential candidate maintained that embracing modern technology would enhance efficiency in public administration, strengthen financial oversight and improve service delivery across government institutions.
