The Presidency has reaffirmed the Federal Government’s determination to eliminate terrorism and insecurity across Nigeria, declaring that terrorist groups operating in the country have only two options; surrender or face defeat through military operations.

Special Adviser to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Media and Public Communication, Sunday Dare, made the position known while commending the efforts of the Nigerian Armed Forces and other security agencies in ongoing operations against terrorists, kidnappers, bandits and criminal networks.

According to him, recent operational gains recorded by security forces demonstrate the administration’s commitment to restoring peace and protecting lives across the country.

Dare stated that the achievements of security personnel should be recognised as part of the security milestones recorded under the current administration.

He stressed that President Tinubu remains resolute and would not yield to pressure or demands from terrorist groups.

“These victories, arrests and intensified operations against terrorists and kidnappers by our soldiers deserve recognition as part of the security achievements of this administration. President Tinubu has made it clear that Nigeria will not surrender. The terrorists must surrender or be decimated,” Dare stated via his official X account.

His remarks followed confirmation by the Nigerian Army of a major breakthrough involving the arrest of a suspected high-profile arms trafficker allegedly linked to an interstate illegal weapons network.

The Presidency’s position also comes amid renewed concern over insecurity following the reported death of retired Major-General Rabe Abubakar while in captivity.

In an earlier statement issued by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu expressed shock over the incident and extended condolences to the family of the deceased.

The statement noted that the retired military officer had concluded a distinguished career in service before his unfortunate abduction while travelling to his hometown.

The Presidency reiterated that despite threats posed by criminal elements, government would remain firm in its security objectives and continue efforts to dismantle terrorist and criminal networks nationwide.
