IJAW GROUPS HAIL GOV. DOUYE DIRI’S HISTORIC VISIT TO FUNERAL OF MAMA KEKETOBOU JANE KUKU
The Ijaw National Congress (INC), Ijaw Youths Council (IYC), as well as stakeholders from Arogbo Ijaw Kingdom and Ijaw Apoi Kingdom, have expressed appreciation and solidarity over the historic visit of Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri, to the funeral rites of Mama Keketobou Jane Kuku.
In a joint statement, the Ijaw socio-cultural groups described the Governor’s presence at the funeral ceremony as a mark of honour, unity, and respect for the Ijaw nation and its prominent leaders.
Mama Keketobou Jane Kuku was the mother of renowned Ijaw leader, High Chief (Dr.) Kingsley Kemebradigha Kuku, a former Special Adviser to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan.
The groups noted that Governor Diri’s attendance underscored the importance of solidarity among Ijaw leaders and reflected a deep commitment to preserving cultural values and strengthening communal bonds across Ijaw communities.
They further stated that the Governor’s visit symbolised respect not only for the late matriarch but also for her contributions to the growth of the Kuku family and the broader Ijaw nation.
According to the groups, the gesture demonstrated leadership beyond politics, reinforcing shared heritage and unity within the Niger Delta region.
The statement concluded with prayers for the peaceful repose of Mama Keketobou Jane Kuku’s soul and renewed calls for continued unity, peace, and development across Ijaw land.
