2027: RIVERS LABOUR PARTY FACTION COLLAPSES STRUCTURE INTO ADC, DECLARES SUPPORT FOR PETER OBI
The Nenadi Usman-led faction of the Labour Party in Rivers State has officially collapsed its entire party structure into the African Democratic Congress (ADC), signalling a major political realignment ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The decision was announced on Monday during a press conference in the state, where the faction’s chairman, Gogo Wellington, addressed party members, stakeholders, and supporters.
Wellington called on Labour Party members and supporters across the 23 local government areas of Rivers State to align with the ADC and rally behind former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, ahead of the next presidential race.
According to him, the move is part of a broader coalition effort aimed at providing an alternative political platform capable of addressing Nigeria’s current challenges.
“We urge all Labour Party supporters in the 23 local government areas of Rivers State to join our leader, Mr Peter Obi, in the African Democratic Congress,” Wellington said.
He explained that the decision to collapse the party structure was driven by the country’s worsening economic situation and rising insecurity, which he described as alarming and requiring urgent action.
“The deteriorating state of the economy and the growing insecurity have made it clear that Nigerians who desire real change must come together now,” he added.
Wellington also appealed to members of the Obidient Movement in Rivers State to embrace the new political direction and support the coalition ahead of 2027.
He stressed that the realignment is aimed at building a united front capable of offering credible leadership and governance to Nigerians.
The development marks a significant shift in Rivers State’s political landscape, as supporters of Peter Obi continue to reorganise and consolidate under a new platform in preparation for the 2027 elections.
