Tinubu Swears In Muttaqha Darma As Housing Minister

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has officially sworn in Dr. Muttaqha Darma as Nigeria’s new Minister of Housing and Urban Development.

The ceremony, held at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, saw Darma take the oath of office shortly before 4:00 p.m. in the President’s Conference Room.

Prior to his appointment, Darma served as Executive Secretary of the Petroleum Technology Development Fund. His nomination was vetted and approved by the Senate after a screening exercise conducted on Thursday, following his formal presentation by Senate President Godswill Akpabio.

During his screening, Darma pledged to collaborate with the National Assembly to address Nigeria’s housing deficit, highlighting plans to improve leadership within the ministry, expand access to affordable homes, and strengthen housing institutions.

Darma succeeds Ahmed Dangiwa, who exited the role after a cabinet reshuffle announced earlier in the week. According to Secretary to the Government of the Federation,
