Group Slams Ondo Government, Health Commissioner Over Alleged Neglect of Idiogba Health Centre
The Ulenuse Movement has strongly criticized the Ondo State Government and the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Banji Ajaka Awolowo, over the deteriorating condition of the Idiogba Health Centre in Ilaje Local Government Area, describing the situation as a glaring example of government neglect and failure in healthcare administration.
Speaking on behalf of the movement, Miss Ogunsemore Roseline Kenny accused the state government of abandoning a facility meant to provide essential healthcare services to residents of Idiogba and surrounding communities.
According to her, the health centre remains exposed to rainfall and adverse weather conditions, while authorities allegedly continue to ignore repeated concerns from community members.
Kenny expressed disappointment that a facility established to safeguard the health of citizens could be left in such a vulnerable condition, alleging that the government’s inaction demonstrates a lack of concern for the wellbeing of rural communities.
“The people of Idiogba are not second-class citizens. It is unacceptable that a public health facility has been left exposed to destruction while those entrusted with protecting the welfare of the people appear unconcerned,” she said.
She further alleged that government officials who readily participate in political activities have failed to demonstrate the same level of commitment to addressing urgent healthcare challenges confronting residents.
The Ulenuse Movement argued that the condition of the health centre reflects what it described as poor governance, misplaced priorities, and the failure of those responsible for overseeing healthcare infrastructure in the state.
The group warned that continued neglect of the facility could worsen healthcare challenges in the community and further erode public confidence in the government’s ability to deliver essential services.
Kenny called on Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa and the Ministry of Health to immediately intervene by rehabilitating the facility, protecting its solar power infrastructure, and ensuring that residents have access to a safe and functional healthcare centre.
“The government cannot continue to remain silent while critical public infrastructure deteriorates. The people deserve action, not excuses. Every day of delay further exposes the facility to damage and reinforces the perception that the welfare of the people is not being treated as a priority,” she added.
The movement maintained that the state government must urgently demonstrate its commitment to healthcare delivery by addressing the situation without further delay.
