The Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) has announced a temporary suspension of its company registration portal following a reported cyberattack affecting its database.

In a statement shared via its official X (formerly Twitter) account, the commission disclosed that the disruption is due to an “unfortunate incident” involving a breach that impacted millions of data points.

According to the CAC, the portal shutdown will last for three days, beginning from April 17 and expected to run until the early hours of April 20, 2026.

“To serve you better, we will be carrying out scheduled maintenance on our portal this weekend, from 12:00 midnight today, 17th April 2026, to 6:00 a.m. on Monday, 20th April 2026. During this period, the portal may be temporarily unavailable,” the statement read.

The commission noted that it is working closely with the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) to address the breach and strengthen its digital infrastructure.

Meanwhile, the Nigeria Data Protection Commission has commenced an investigation into the incident to determine the extent of the data compromise and ensure compliance with data protection regulations.

The development has raised concerns among business owners and stakeholders who rely on the CAC portal for company registration and related services, although authorities have assured that efforts are underway to restore full operations and enhance system security.

The CAC reiterated its commitment to safeguarding users’ data and improving service delivery as it works to resolve the issue.
