Former Governor of Ondo State, Olusegun Mimiko has officially defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC), marking a significant political shift ahead of future elections.

Mimiko, who recently stepped down from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), was formally received by leaders of the APC at the party secretariat in Ondo West, where he was welcomed by the state chairman, Babatunde Kolawole, alongside other party officials.

He pointed to several ongoing federal initiatives, including reforms in education financing through the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) and efforts aimed at strengthening security architecture, particularly discussions around state policing.

According to him, the administration’s programmes demonstrate a commitment to national development, peace, and institutional reforms, which informed his decision to align with the ruling party.

“There are many positive steps being taken by the Tinubu-led administration… I am joining to support efforts aimed at advancing peace, progress, and national development,” he was quoted as saying.

The All Progressives Congress (APC), All Progressives Congress described Mimiko’s entry into the party as a major political gain, especially as preparations gradually build toward future elections in Ondo State.
