The Independent National Electoral Commission has declared plans to use over 5,000 Bimodal Voter Accreditation System equipment for the exercise as final preparations for the impending Edo state elections get under way. September 21, 2024 is when the election is set to take place.

Additionally, INEC stated that it is preparing to guarantee a seamless and effective election process throughout the state’s 211 collation centers and 4,519 polling places. It is anticipated that 192 ward centers, 18 local government centers, and the state collation center in Benin City will be included in the election.

“For the Edo State governorship election, more than 5,000 BVAS devices will be deployed,” an INEC representative stated. A simulated voter accreditation was set by INEC for September 10, 2024, in Edo State on April 27.

The purpose of the exercise is to test the INEC Result Viewing portal’s electronic result upload procedure as well as the deployment of BVAS. The commission also disclosed that all BVAS machine configuration and installation were finished in preparation for election day.
