Airbus A330, Tinubu launches new presidential jet
According to information obtained, the plane landed at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport on Sunday night after taking off at 4:16 p.m. from EuroAirport Basel-Mulhouse-Freiburg in France and arriving in Abuja at 8:29 p.m.
On Monday, August 19, President Bola Tinubu will leave Abuja, the country’s capital, for a trip to France.
Following his brief business visit in France, the President will return to the nation, according to a statement released on Sunday and signed by Chief Ajuri Ngelale, Special Advisor to the President on Media & Publicity.
The President will fly aboard the recently purchased, opulent Airbus A330, which touched down at Abuja’s Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport at 8:29 p.m. on Sunday.
This came after the plane was freed. It was one of the three presidential jets that a French court had recently seized in favor of a Chinese company involved in a legal battle with the government of Ogun State.
Zhongshan Fucheng Industrial Investment Co. Limited stated on Friday, according to Sahara Reporters, the release of one of the three Nigerian presidential planes that had been imprisoned in France.
The Chinese firm mentioned the impending meeting between French President Emmanuel Macron and President Tinubu to describe the aircraft’s release as a gesture of goodwill.
The company said that it understood how important the aircraft was to the diplomatic effort and made arrangements to guarantee that it would be available, which made the meeting easier.
As the country struggled with economic issues and unprecedented inflation, the proposed expenditure came under close examination. The Airbus A330 aircraft, which was purportedly owned by a German bank, was obtained when an Arab prince and businessman defaulted on a multi-million dollar debt.
The A330 offers even more comfort and economy by combining newer engines with aerodynamic and other upgrades. The aircraft offers premium luxury, comfort, and range and is specifically designed for the extremely selective VIP and private markets.
