Maid sets Employer’s house ablaze in ilorin
A female housemaid accidentally set her employer’s four-bedroom apartment on fire on Thursday in Ilorin. It was learned that she tried to start the gas cooker without realizing that the kitchen was already completely covered in liquefied gas.
According to a statement made public by Hassan Adekunle, Head of the Kwara Fire Service’s Department of Media and Publicity, the maid was attempting to fire a gas stove even though the kitchen had already been saturated with liquefied gas.
In order to stop more damage, the fire crew raced to the scene and arrived right away. When the firefighters arrived, they found a cottage completely destroyed by flames, housing a four-bedroom apartment.
He claimed that although the maid was unharmed, the delayed emergency call seriously destroyed the entire structure. “It was found that the maid tried to light the gas cooker, which started the fire, during the investigation. The liquid gas had already flooded the kitchen when multiple efforts to strike matches were made, he added. Eventually, the ignition happened, resulting in an explosion that started the fire.
Prince Falade John, the Director of the Kwara State Fire Service, condoled with the impacted parties and asked everyone to rigorously follow safety precautions. In order to avoid future occurrences of this kind of thing, he underlined the significance of striking matches before turning on gas equipment.
