Don’t Harbor Trouble: Nations Warned on Deviant Individuals
In a recent press briefing, a spokesperson for the Nigerian security enforcement agency addressed the recent incident involving the detention of individuals, emphasizing that their actions were not a targeted operation.
“They were picked up because of where they were when the incident happened. It’s not a targeted operation,” the spokesperson clarified.
However, the spokesperson also issued a stark warning, urging international cooperation to prevent the undermining of domestic peace and stability.
“We plead that you do not offer your country to some persons who may be deviant or have a terrorist inclination in today’s global pursuit. If anything happens in a country, it affects the others.”
The spokesperson emphasized the importance of democratic principles, human rights, and intelligence governance in their operations, stating, “We obey all of these, whether we are dealing with Nigerians or foreigners.”
Meanwhile, the international community has expressed support for President Bola Tinubu’s economic reforms, recognizing their significance for Nigeria’s future prosperity.
The United Kingdom, the United States, and the Economic Community of West African States have called for dialogue to address the tension from the hunger protests.
At a briefing of the Diplomatic Corps in Abuja, British High Commissioner Richard Montgomery and US Ambassador Richard Mills stressed the importance of maintaining dialogue and peace-building efforts to address the issues raised by the protesters.
The diplomats praised the Nigerian administration’s commitment to reform while urging continued dialogue to address citizens’ concerns.
Montgomery commended the security agencies for their restraint in managing the protests, highlighting their avoidance of lethal force.
The international community’s support for Nigeria’s economic reforms and calls for dialogue underscore the need for collaborative efforts to address global stability and prevent the exploitation of deviant individuals.
In a world where incidents can have far-reaching consequences, it is crucial for nations to work together to prevent the undermining of domestic peace and stability. As the spokesperson emphasized, “We have to work in sync with all of you who are men and women of goodwill.”
