Nigerian content creator Emmanuel Obruste, popularly known as GehGeh, has revealed that the widely circulated videos claiming he recently got married were part of a staged promotional campaign and not an actual wedding.
The clarification follows widespread reactions on social media after videos showed GehGeh and a woman dressed in matching burgundy traditional attire at what appeared to be a wedding ceremony. The footage sparked criticism from some users who accused him of contradicting his views on marriage.
Speaking during an interview with StreamRewind, GehGeh explained that the event was deliberately organised as a promotional project and a social experiment to gauge public reaction and address misconceptions about his content.
According to him, many people have misunderstood his messages, wrongly believing that he advises people not to get married.
GehGeh maintained that he is not opposed to marriage but personally believes polygamy is preferable to monogamy. He argued that having multiple wives reduces the likelihood of emotional manipulation by one partner and described the practice as consistent with the traditions of earlier generations.
The content creator’s explanation has generated mixed reactions online, with some social media users describing the stunt as a creative publicity strategy, while others criticised it for misleading the public.
