2027: Peter Obi Unveils Presidential Vision, Promises Education Reforms, Industrial Growth And Job Creation
The presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) for the 2027 general election, Peter Obi, has unveiled what he described as his vision for building a productive and prosperous Nigeria.
Obi made the disclosure in a statement released on Wednesday through his official 𝕏 account, outlining what he presented as a roadmap for national transformation, economic renewal and institutional reforms.
The former Governor of Anambra State said his proposed agenda is designed to reposition Nigeria through policies centred on unity, inclusion, social justice, equity and opportunities for citizens to pursue legitimate aspirations.
According to Obi, his administration, if elected, would prioritise human capital development through major investments and reforms in education and healthcare.
He argued that national development depends largely on building strong human capital capable of driving economic growth, improving service delivery and creating sustainable prosperity.
Obi stated that his government would immediately establish a dedicated task force to address the growing challenge of out-of-school children across the country.
He also announced plans to expand Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) as part of a broader industrialisation strategy.
According to him, the proposed education reforms would align learning with industry demands and create pathways for practical skills acquisition.
He explained that the industrialisation programme would leverage Nigeria’s agricultural strengths through value addition and the establishment of industrial parks across development zones in the country’s geopolitical regions.
Obi further stated that partnerships between government, private investors and social entrepreneurs; including faith-based educational institutions; would be encouraged to improve vocational training and strengthen apprenticeship opportunities.
Drawing comparisons with the German dual education model, the NDC candidate said Nigeria must deliberately bridge the gap between education and labour market needs.
He argued that the current reality where unemployment remains high despite shortages of skilled labour must be addressed urgently.
According to him, his administration would pursue policies aimed at moving Nigeria from a consumption-driven economy to a production-driven economy.
Obi also emphasised the importance of character development and civic education, saying governance must be built on trust, responsible leadership and shared national values.
He maintained that promoting civic responsibility and ethical leadership would remain central to his proposed governance model.
The presidential candidate stated that over the coming weeks and months, he would continue unveiling detailed components of his policy direction for Nigerians.
Concluding the statement, Obi reiterated his popular campaign message:
“A New Nigeria is POssible.”
