Dino Melaye Declares Support For Peter Obi’s Presidential Ambition
Former Senator representing Kogi West and chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Dino Melaye, has publicly declared support for the presidential ambition of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate, Peter Obi, ahead of the forthcoming general elections.
Melaye made the declaration in a video circulated on Tuesday, where he described Obi as a leader with the intellectual strength, administrative competence and national outlook required to move Nigeria forward.
According to the former lawmaker, Nigeria currently needs a unifying figure capable of addressing insecurity and providing effective governance.
He noted that Obi has consistently demonstrated the leadership qualities needed to occupy the highest office in the country.
Addressing Nigerians in the video, Melaye praised Obi’s engagement with young people and his advocacy for governance reforms and national development.
He stated that the movement for a “new Nigeria” should continue to grow across campuses, communities and progressive groups nationwide.
Melaye said:
“We need a unifier. We need a Nigerian with the competence, capacity and understanding to solve the problem of insecurity and rebuild confidence across the country.
“Peter Obi is one of the finest Nigerians who is intellectually mobile and administratively sagacious. He is a great Nigerian and, by the grace of God, has the potential to become a great president.
“I celebrate your conscience and your impact on governance and nation-building. I encourage the movement for a new Nigeria to continue from campus to campus, community to community and among progressive organisations across the nation.
“We must rebuild, restructure, reorganise and reboot Nigeria.”
The former senator maintained that national progress requires sincere leadership and a commitment to confronting Nigeria’s security and governance challenges.
His remarks have continued to generate reactions within political circles ahead of the next electoral cycle.
