Aiyedatiwa Approves Revised Federal Salary Structure For Ondo Health Workers
Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has approved the implementation of the revised federal salary structure for medical officers and other healthcare workers in the state as part of efforts to strengthen the health sector and improve service delivery.
The approval was announced in Akure by the Ondo State Head of Service, Bayo Philip, during an annual get-together and send-off ceremony organised for retired permanent secretaries and tutors-general.
According to Philip, the new salary structure is expected to boost the morale of health workers, enhance productivity, and make employment within the state’s healthcare system more attractive to professionals.
He stated that the state government is also making plans to recruit additional personnel into the health sector to address manpower shortages in public hospitals and healthcare facilities across Ondo State.
Philip commended Governor Aiyedatiwa for prioritising workers’ welfare through policies aimed at improving the conditions of service for civil servants and retirees.
He disclosed that the state government had already employed about 5,000 workers across different sectors to improve efficiency and service delivery within the public service.
The Head of Service further noted that the government has sustained regular payment of retirement benefits and pensions, adding that terminal benefits for retired permanent secretaries are now being paid promptly.
He also revealed that the government approved accommodation support for about 150 retired graduate headmasters whose cases had remained unresolved since 2009.
According to him, several of the affected retirees had died while awaiting assistance, making the intervention necessary and timely.
Philip urged retired permanent secretaries to continue offering mentorship and advisory support to the state government, stressing that their wealth of experience remains valuable for effective governance and public administration.
