APC Primaries Set Bayelsa Political Space Ablaze Ahead of 2027 Elections
The political atmosphere across Bayelsa State erupted with fresh momentum as the All Progressives Congress (APC) concluded its House of Representatives primaries, producing what many insiders have described as a “new wave of political combatants” ahead of the 2027 general elections.
From the riverine strongholds of Southern Ijaw to the political corridors of Ogbia and Sagbama, the APC primaries delivered suspense, strategic alignments, and the rise of fresh power brokers now positioned for the battle ahead.
In Sagbama/Ekeremor Federal Constituency, Hon. Bernard Kenebai muscled through the contest to emerge as the party’s standard bearer, a development supporters hailed as “the rebirth of grassroots confidence.”
“This victory is not just mine; it belongs to the people who believe the constituency deserves a louder voice and purposeful representation,” Kenebai declared shortly after his emergence.
At Ogbia Federal Constituency, Barr. Jude Rex Ogbuku secured the APC ticket amid growing excitement among party loyalists. Ogbuku described his victory as “a political awakening driven by loyalty, competence, and the hunger for a new direction.”
In Yenagoa/Kolokuma-Opokuma Federal Constituency, Hon. Oforji Oboku emerged victorious, promising what he called “a people-first representation anchored on visibility and accountability.”
Meanwhile, political attention also shifted to Nembe/Brass Federal Constituency where Hon. Jonathan Robinson Obuebite clinched the APC ticket in a move observers say could reshape the political calculations within the coastal axis of the state.
“We are entering a new political season where service must replace noise,” Obuebite said while addressing supporters after the exercise.
In Southern Ijaw Federal Constituency, Hon. Engr. Rodney Ambaiowei completed the list of APC flagbearers after securing victory in the primary election.
His emergence has already sparked celebrations among supporters who believe the constituency is preparing for a fierce political contest in 2027.
Ambaiowei, speaking after the exercise, described his victory as “the triumph of collective faith, resilience, and the desire to reposition Southern Ijaw for stronger national relevance.”
Political observers believe the APC primaries in Bayelsa have not only produced candidates but have also ignited early political fireworks capable of redefining alliances and power structures across the state.
With the dust gradually settling after the primaries, attention is now shifting toward the larger electoral battlefield where the newly emerged candidates are expected to test their popularity, political machinery, and grassroots acceptance against rival parties in what promises to be a heated race for representation in the Green Chamber.
