Governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde, has emerged as the new Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governors’ Forum.

In an official statement, the forum congratulated Makinde on his emergence, describing it as a recognition of his consistent leadership, commitment to democratic governance, and contributions to national development.

The forum noted that his appointment comes at a critical period when democratic institutions in Nigeria are under increasing pressure, and citizens are demanding greater accountability from political leaders.

According to the statement, Makinde’s leadership qualities have become more pronounced in recent years, particularly amid the country’s economic challenges, security concerns, and governance issues.

It highlighted his commitment to accountability, justice, and the protection of democratic values, adding that his public interventions on national matters have strengthened his standing within the opposition party.

“Governor Seyi Makinde’s emergence as Chairman of the PDP Governors’ Forum is a reflection of his consistent leadership and dedication to democratic governance,” the statement read in part.

The forum further described him as a unifying figure whose administrative experience and political approach are expected to enhance coordination among PDP governors nationwide.

It expressed confidence that under his leadership, the forum would witness renewed energy, improved collaboration, and a stronger role in promoting democratic ideals and policy direction.

The PDP Governors’ Forum also stated that Makinde’s leadership would reinforce the party’s position as a major opposition force in Nigeria’s political landscape.
