The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has dismissed a viral social media report alleging that its operatives were chased away by “some boys” along Airport Road, Benin City.
The claim, circulated by a local blogger on X (formerly Twitter), alleged that EFCC officials were resisted during an operation in the area.
However, the commission described the report as false and misleading, urging the public to disregard it and rely only on verified information from official channels.
The EFCC reiterated its commitment to lawful operations and warned against the spread of fake news capable of causing public panic.
