2027: Obi’s Ally Urges Atiku To Withdraw From ADC Presidential Primary

A political associate of Peter Obi, Ibrahim Abdulkarim, has called on former Vice President Atiku Abubakar to withdraw from the forthcoming presidential primary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), stating that the former presidential candidate may not secure victory in the contest.

Abdulkarim made the appeal during an interview with Trust TV, where he emphasised the need for a strategic and dignified approach to Atiku’s political future, considering his decades-long involvement in Nigeria’s political landscape.

He noted that stepping aside at this stage would help preserve Atiku’s legacy and allow him to be remembered positively by future generations.

According to him, the ADC and its supporters should instead consider consolidating support around a potential joint ticket involving Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso, citing the strength of their respective grassroots movements.

Abdulkarim further argued that political timing remains critical, adding that emerging dynamics ahead of the 2027 general elections favour new alignments and leadership considerations.

The development reflects ongoing political realignments within opposition parties as stakeholders continue consultations and strategic positioning ahead of the next electoral cycle.
