Ogbuku-Led NDDC Executes Ogu Projects as Wike Commissions Roads, Royal Hall
The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), His Excellency, Barr. Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, CON, on Thursday commissioned key infrastructural projects executed by the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) in Ogu Kingdom, Rivers State.
The projects, commissioned alongside the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of the NDDC, Dr. Samuel Ogbuku, and the Executive Director, Finance and Administration, Hon. Alabo Boma Iyaye, include a 9.450-kilometre rigid pavement Ogu internal road network and the 1,500-seater capacity NDDC Royal Hall.
Constructed as part of the Commission’s developmental interventions in the Niger Delta region, the projects are aimed at improving connectivity, boosting economic activities, and enhancing social life within the Ogu Kingdom and its environs.
Speaking during the commissioning, stakeholders described the projects as critical infrastructure that will accelerate socio-economic development while also preserving the cultural heritage of the Ogu Kingdom, a historic community within the Niger Delta region.
The newly commissioned road network is expected to ease transportation challenges, improve access to communities, and stimulate local commerce, while the NDDC Royal Hall will serve as a major centre for cultural, social, and civic engagements.
The projects underscore the NDDC’s commitment to sustainable development and inclusive growth across the Niger Delta, in line with its mandate to transform the region through impactful infrastructure and community-focused initiatives.
