Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, has dismissed claims that state governments are facing financial hardship, revealing that states now receive increased allocations from the Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC).

The governor made the disclosure on Wednesday during the groundbreaking ceremony of the ₦39.3 billion Otovwodo Flyover in Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State.

According to Oborevwori, there is no justification for governors to conceal the true financial situation of their states, stressing that revenue inflow has improved significantly.

“More money is coming to the states. I am not a governor who will hide it. There is money. Use the money, as we are using it in our state. Use it in your state, so that the people will be very happy,” he said.

“The money is coming from somewhere. Some people want to hide that there is no money; there is money.”

The governor urged his colleagues across the country to convert the improved allocations into visible projects and better living conditions for citizens, noting that transparency and development are key to strengthening public trust in governance.

Oborevwori described the Otovwodo Flyover as a strategic infrastructure project aimed at easing traffic congestion and boosting commercial activities within Ughelli and adjoining areas.

He explained that Otovwodo Junction, which links Warri, Asaba and Patani along the East-West Highway, is one of the busiest traffic corridors in Delta State, making the flyover a critical intervention.

The governor added that the project aligns with his administration’s commitment to people-centred development and accountable governance, noting that upon completion, it would reduce travel time, enhance safety for commuters and stimulate economic growth across the region.
