Warri Delta- State, in what many have described as a game-changing political moment, top stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Egbema Kingdom, Warri North LGA, converged on wednesday and unanimously appointed High Chief Promise Lawuru (Ozigizaga 1) as the National Leader of APC Egbema, a move that signals a major shift in the political balance of the region.

The decisive meeting, which brought together grassroots stalwarts, youth mobilizer, and prominent women leaders, erupted in applause as Comrade Gemuge A.S, pioneer chairman of Egbema Political Forum APC and former Organizing Secretary of the party in Warri North, formally moved the motion. It was promptly seconded by youth leader Mr. Juwegha Moses of Opuama Ward 7.

In a fiery acceptance speech, Chief Lawuru pulled no punches as he decried the historical marginalization of the Egbema people, declaring:

Our sons and daughters have been sidelined for too long. This is the hour for Egbema to rise as a united political force. We cannot continue to accept crumbs when we deserve a seat at the table.” He also sent a strong message to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, urging him to address the glaring ethnic imbalance in appointments across Warri North. Every community deserves fair representation. The time to correct these inequities is now,” Lawuru asserted.

Community elder and cleric, Pastor Philip Gbasin, who invoked biblical history, compared Lawuru’s emergence to the coronation of King Josiah — a leader called to rebuild his land with vision and righteousness. Lawuru’s new mandate must usher in an era of unity, progress, and integrity,” Gbasin urged.

Also receiving a vote of confidence was respected elder Edmund E. Doyah Tiemo, who commended the APC family for its unity of purpose. This is a decisive moment and a show of strength and solidarity,” Tiemo noted, calling on all present to rally behind Lawuru as the face of a rejuvenated APC in Egbema.

Among other dignitaries present were Hon. Barry Apataimini (Ward 9 Chairman, Ogbinbiri), Mr. Paul Toruwei (President, Polobubo Bloc of Communities), and Mr. Fiyah Henry Lelekumo (former APC Secretary, Warri North), all of whom pledged their full support to the new leadership.

Mrs. Flora Oghomiriona, APC Warri North Woman Leader, described the occasion as a “new dawn,” adding that women will stand firmly by Lawuru to ensure true grassroots inclusion.

The meeting wrapped up with a heartfelt vote of thanks by Chief Amb. Ebi Eyenmi (JP), followed by a closing prayer led by Pastor Gbasin.

As the political landscape in Warri North braces for the 2027 elections, this bold move by Egbema APC underscores a resurgence of strength, purpose, and fairness, heralding a new chapter of empowerment and effective representation for the people of Egbema Kingdom.
