As a demonstration of solidarity, cultural heritage and political accord, president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, His Excellency, Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu, on Sunday, welcomed high-profile guests to his Lagos residence as part of the Eid-el-Kabir celebrations.
The revered Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, led a royal delegation to pay homage to the President. Clad in the Yoruba’s traditional regalia and exuding cultural grace, the Ooni’s visit was a significant symbol of respect from their ancestral traditional institution to Nigeria’s number one citizen.
“I bring the goodwill of the Yoruba people to Mr. President during this sacred celebration. We pray for his success and for peace to reign across Nigeria,” the Ooni stated during his visit.
President Tinubu, accompanied by First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu, warmly received the monarch and expressed appreciation for the royal honour.
Also in attendance was Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, who arrived with key members of the influential Lagos Governor’s Advisory Council (GAC), the apex political structure of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state.
“We came not just to celebrate the season, but to reaffirm our unwavering support for Mr. President and his vision for Nigeria,” Sanwo-Olu said while addressing the press after the visit.
Photographs from the event captured moments of camaraderie and deep political solidarity as Tinubu stood beside his longtime political allies and respected monarchs.
Adding royal grace to the occasion, the Alake of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo, also paid homage. His presence further underlined the strong ties between the traditional institution and the Tinubu-led administration.
This convergence of royal and political power-houses at the President’s home is widely seen as a powerful endorsement of his leadership, as well as a reflection of enduring respect for culture and governance.
As Nigeria celebrates Eid-el-Kabir, the symbolic gathering at Tinubu’s Lagos residence sends a resounding message of unity, cultural pride, and strategic alliance.
