Former Kaduna Central Senator, Shehu Sani, has announced his intention to run for re-election in the 2027 general elections. He made this known on Sunday while delivering his Eid-el-Fitr message at his residence in Kaduna.

Sani stated that his decision to contest would depend on the political landscape at the time. “Every politician considers the prevailing political equation before deciding on a position to run for. If the conditions are favorable, I will seek election specifically for the Kaduna Central senatorial district,” he said.

However, he emphasized that his immediate priority is securing a second term for Governor Uba Sani. “Right now, our main focus is ensuring Governor Uba Sani’s re-election. We will put in our best efforts to achieve this goal. While challenges and opposition may arise, we are fully prepared to face them,” he added.

During his speech, Sani also urged Muslims to pray for Nigeria’s peace and unity during the Eid-el-Fitr celebrations. He condemned the recent killing of hunters in Edo State and called on security agencies to bring those responsible to justice.

“A nation cannot truly exist if its citizens cannot move freely. When individuals take the law into their own hands, it signals the absence of effective governance,” he warned.
