Honouring Legacy, Celebrating Heritage: Hon. Sunday Adekanbi to Join Arogbo-Ibe for Otuaro and Tompolo Ogele
For the people of Arogbo-Ibe, cultural festivals are far more than colourful celebrations. They are sacred moments when sons and daughters return home, families reunite, elders pass down the memories of generations, and the community comes together to celebrate its heritage, values and distinguished sons.
Against this rich cultural backdrop, Hon. Sunday Adekanbi, National Coordinator of the PBAT Door-to-Door Campaign 2027, is expected to grace the Otuaro and Tompolo Ogele, one of the major highlights of the 2026 Arogbo-Ijaw-Ibe Cultural Festival. The event is scheduled to take place on September 28, 2026, at 8:00 a.m. at the Egbebule Open Space, Arogbo Town.
The Ogele is organised to honour High Chief (Dr.) Dennis Brutu Otuaro and Chief Government Ekpemupolo (Tompolo) in recognition of their contributions to the development, progress and advancement of the Arogbo-Ibe Kingdom.
Beyond the honours, ceremonial moments and colourful pageantry, however, the gathering represents something deeper, the strength of community and the enduring bonds that hold a people together. Traditional rulers, community leaders, youths, families, friends and visitors are expected to converge to celebrate a heritage that continues to define generations.
For many returning home for the festival, the occasion is also a reminder that culture is not merely something preserved in books or remembered in archives.
