BREAKING: From State to Ward Level, Bayelsa PDP Approves Monthly Financial Support for Officials

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Bayelsa State chapter, has introduced a new monthly financial support package for its elected officers, political appointees and party employees, with the scheme set to commence in August 2026.

The decision was reached during the 129th meeting of the State Working Committee (SWC) at the Party’s secretariat in Yenagoa.

The initiative, according to the Party, is designed to improve the welfare of its personnel, strengthen its administrative machinery and encourage greater commitment to party responsibilities at all levels.

Under the approved arrangement, the State Deputy Chairman will receive ₦1 million monthly, while the State Secretary is allocated ₦800,000. Members of the State Working Committee will receive ₦500,000 each, while SWC Assistants are to receive ₦200,000.

The package extends to the Party’s senatorial, local government and ward structures. Senatorial Vice Chairmen will receive ₦150,000, while LGA Chairmen are allocated ₦200,000, LGA Vice Chairmen ₦100,000 and LGA Secretaries ₦70,000.

Other LGA executive members will receive ₦50,000 monthly.

At the ward level, the approved figures stand at ₦50,000 for Ward Chairmen, ₦40,000 for Vice Chairmen, ₦30,000 for Secretaries and ₦20,000 for other executive members.

The remuneration framework also covers Directors, administrative personnel, Personal Assistants and various categories of political aides.

Directors will receive ₦150,000, administrative officers ₦100,000, PAs to SWC members ₦100,000, while SAs, SSAs and Honorary Special Advisers to the State Chairman will receive ₦100,000, ₦150,000 and ₦200,000 respectively.

The Chief of Staff to the State Chairman is allocated ₦500,000, while support provisions of ₦300,000 and ₦250,000 have been approved for national and zonal officers respectively.

Other support personnel and committee members will receive ₦100,000.
Members of the SWC reportedly praised the State Chairman, Hon. Chief Alabh George Turnah, MON, Esq., describing his administration as welfare-conscious and committed to consolidating the Party’s structures across Bayelsa State.

The SWC expressed confidence that the new arrangement would boost morale among party officials, deepen grassroots activities and enhance the PDP’s organisational readiness for future political engagements.

The implementation of the package from August 2026 marks a significant welfare intervention within the Bayelsa PDP, coming at a time when political parties are increasingly seeking stronger grassroots structures and more active participation from their officials.
