APC Rules Out Automatic Refund Of Nomination Fees, Says Aspirants Must Know Requirements
The National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Felix Morka, has stated that the party does not operate a blanket refund policy for nomination and expression of interest forms purchased by aspirants.
Morka made the clarification on Friday during an appearance on The Morning Show on Arise Television, where he emphasised that candidates are expected to fully understand the eligibility requirements before applying for any party position.
According to him, payments made for nomination forms are generally non-refundable, as the party assumes that aspirants are aware of the guidelines, including the appropriate constituencies tied to the offices they seek.
He noted that errors such as applying for positions outside one’s constituency fall entirely on the applicant.
“Ordinarily, these payments are not refundable because the party presumes that you understand what you are applying for,” he explained.
Despite the strict stance, Morka acknowledged that there have been rare instances where refunds were granted under special circumstances.
He added that individuals who feel entitled to a refund can formally submit a request, which the party may review on a case-by-case basis.
“I don’t rule out the possibility of refunds where there are valid reasons, but such requests must be made formally and will be considered individually,” he said.
The APC spokesperson stressed the importance of due diligence among aspirants, urging them to carefully verify all requirements before making financial commitments.
The clarification comes amid preparations for party activities ahead of upcoming political processes, where nomination forms play a key role in determining eligibility for various elective and party positions.
