APC ACCUSES ADC OF SPREADING FALSEHOOD OVER MEMBERSHIP REGISTRATION
The All Progressives Congress (APC) has accused the African Democratic Congress (ADC) of spreading misinformation and being intimidated by the high turnout recorded in the ruling party’s ongoing electronic membership registration exercise.
The APC made the accusation in a statement issued on Monday by its National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, in response to claims by the ADC that civil servants in some states were allegedly being coerced into registering as members of the ruling party.
Earlier, the ADC, in a statement signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, alleged that the APC was using economic pressure to force public servants to join the party, describing the move as “economic coercion” and “forced membership.” The opposition party warned that such actions violate constitutional rights and threaten the neutrality of the civil service.
However, the APC dismissed the allegations, describing them as false, baseless and part of what it called the ADC’s disinformation campaign.
According to the APC, millions of Nigerians are voluntarily registering as members of the party, driven by confidence in its governance and the achievements of the Renewed Hope Agenda. The party insisted that the ADC’s claims were a reaction to the success of the e-registration exercise.
The APC said the ongoing digital registration exercise reflects popular support for the party and denied pressuring civil servants or any group to participate. It added that the extension of the registration deadline from January 31 to February 8, 2026, was due to overwhelming demand from Nigerians eager to join the party.
The ruling party further accused the ADC of fabricating stories to discredit the exercise, including the circulation of what it described as a fake APC membership slip.
The APC maintained that while opposition parties continue to make allegations, it remains focused on strengthening internal democracy and advancing digital innovation within the political system.
