Amotekun Rescues Eight Kidnap Victims In Ondo After Gun Battle
Operatives of the Ondo State Security Network Agency, popularly known as Amotekun Corps, have rescued eight persons abducted by suspected kidnappers in parts of the state following a successful security operation.
The rescue mission led to the safe recovery of all victims without the payment of ransom, according to authorities.
Reports indicate that some of the victims were abducted from Ilado Community in Akure North Local Government Area of Ondo State.
Among those rescued was Mr. Fagbonmire Durojaiye, identified as a pastor of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) and a teacher.
Sources disclosed that the kidnappers had allegedly demanded a ransom of ₦30 million for the victims’ release.
However, the Ondo State Commander of the Amotekun Corps confirmed that security operatives secured the victims’ freedom without yielding to the ransom demand.
According to the commander, the operation followed an exchange of gunfire between Amotekun personnel and the abductors.
He explained that the operatives gained control during the confrontation, forcing the kidnappers to abandon the victims and enabling their successful rescue.
The development adds to ongoing efforts by security agencies and local security outfits to combat kidnapping and strengthen community safety across Ondo State.
